Seven Springs Vineyard is a new winery with aspirations of becoming a leading producer of premium quality wines, situated bewteen the seaside town of Hermanus and the Spa Town of Caledon, in the picturesque Western Cape, South Africa. Having great benefits from their oceanic location, plus their shale derived soils, this gives their vines the potential to produce exceptional grapes from both north and south facing vineyards.

Wine for your shopping list part III: Spar....

Spar shop front

I’ve been putting off writing this review not really knowing where to start. As my third piece on wines for your shopping list this one is on Spar. Having previously recommended a couple of top bottles from Asda and The Coop I did toy with the idea of calling the series ‘Excellent wines in unlikely places’ but apart from that sounding mean I honestly do enjoy popping into The Coop.

Wine for your shopping list part II: The Co-op....

Coop wine tasting invite

The only Co-op store I used to know was in Peacehaven in Sussex, near Brighton. It’s a great big store where time seemingly stood still, in a nice way. I’d go down there during school holidays and we’d stay at a little flat by the sea that my Nana owns. The Co-op fitted so well with The Flat. A slow pace, nothing fancy, nothing complicated, everything you needed in one space and somehow trustworthy at the same time.

We Visit....The Pointing Dog, Cheadle

On arrival at the Pointing Dog (Grove Lane,Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, SK8 7NE) you will immediately be relaxed by its ambience. From the beautiful timber-clad exterior to the minimalist contemporary interior. High ceilings with terracotta plaster walls, all adorned with unusual fittings of crates and colanders to name a few. The mood is set as it should be for a gastropub. The interior is separated into three distinct dining areas, a small bar and seating area and an a large outdoor patio area with typical wooden furniture for when our two week summers arrive.
