A Mano - Fiano/Greco 2011 - An Italian summer glugger

Italian reds are much better than Italian whites. I don't think that's even a controversial thing to say these days.... I've made frequent efforts over the years to really love Italian whites but I soon give up and scoot on back over to my other white loves from Australia, France, New Zealand and the other usual suspects.

My attempts to become a Beaujolais Man...

I've never been much of a Beaujolais man to be honest. I've always viewed the wine with a good dollop of suspicion but I'm not entirely sure where it's come from. Maybe I had a particularly bad experience with the wine in a previous life? Either way it's never really been on my radar and therefore I've been keen to resolve this blind spot of late. My chance came when I was offered a taste of 4 samples recently.

The pink ladies....

Grease is my favourite ever film. Grease #1 of course, #2 should never have been made. I watched it over and over again when I was younger and could probably still recite 80% of the script and 100% of the lyrics. Sandy was too much of a goody two shoes for me but Rizzo was a different story. She was the ultimate pink lady.

Super summer sipping and splashing - The Lido steps up to the plate

On a long, hot summer’s day there are plenty of things that come to mind – going for a cooling swim, settling outside for a nice, chilled glass of white, having a relaxed spa day. At The Lido in Bristol you can do all three. Well, not at the same time but you get the picture.

Jean Luc Colombo - Cotes Du Rhone (Le Vent) 2011

I recently reviewed a selection of Jean Luc Colombo's legendary red wines and having done so received an email from the PR's for the great man himself asking if I'd like to try one of his whites. Not being one to turn down a wine reviewing opportunity I agreed.
