Going on Holiday? Visit the Marqués de Riscal City of Wine

Marqués de Riscal are three words that spell Rioja.  They have been producing spectacular wines in this area since 1858 and this year are celebrating the 150th anniversary of their first vintage (a few bottles of which still exist in their wine cellars!).

The Pony and Trap is a beautiful 200 year old country pub situated in between Bristol and Bath. They pride themselves on sourcing their fresh ingredients locally from the best suppliers, with the majority of meats, vegetables and fruits all produced within just a few miles. Reflecting this, they were awarded a Michelin star in 2011, which has been retained in 2012, making them one of the few restaurants in the South West to gain this coveted status.

After three fabulous days in the beautiful Croatian region of Istria, our flight home was scheduled to depart at the respectable hour of 3pm.  Instead of an early wake-up call and another winery visit (which we no doubt would have rallied for), we only had to hop on the lift to get to our last tasting.
