Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Issue 208, August 2013), 89 pts

"Tasted both blind and at the winery, 2011 Macon-Davaye comes from 35-year-old vines, fermented in stainless steel and matured on the fine lees for 10 months. It has an attractive bouquet with scents of grapefruit, melon and honeysuckle that shows fine clarity. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with a pleasant spicy note complementing the citrus fruit, leading to a composed finish. Fine."

Pale brilliant yellow color. Fresh nose of citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit). Mineral and salty notes on the palate. Fresh, supple and harmonious in the mouth.

Excellent as an aperitif and pairs well with grilled fish and Asian food.

Maurice Martin settled in Davayé and then fully devoted his life to the vines from 1969. The family estate slowly grew and today it covers a unique stretch of 60 plots of vines with an average age of around 30 years old on all the slopes of the village.

This parcel of vines is situated in the commune of Davayé, 6km from Macon, and has an easterly exposure which catches the early morning sun and aids ripening. Planted in the 70s the vines are now 40 years old and the concentration shows through in the wine.
