This is a full bodied wine, showing the typical character of Sauvignon Blanc, grown in the cool climate area of Constantia close to Cape Town. Distinct ripe fig and gooseberry flavours, with green pepper and grassy tones. The Groot Constantia Sauvignon Blanc is an elegant wine with a fresh and complex finish.
Awards for this wine include: South African White Trophy, Constantia Trophy, South African Sauvignon Blanc Trophy at the Internation Wine Challenge 2013.
The Groot Constantia is South Africa's oldest wine estate. We talk about South Africa being a 'New World' wine country, yet the history of the Groot Constantia estate goes back over 300 years to 1685! Wines from here have graced the tables of great men and women ever since. Jane Austen mentions it in Sense and Sensibility, Napoleon drank it while on St Helena. The style of the wine may have changed over the years from an amber-coloured sweet wine to the whole range of red and white wines available today, but the quality remains just as high.
There is every reason to indulge yourself with this gorgeous wine, especially as Evines will pick up the bill for postage and packing when you buy only 6 bottles of wine!
