This is another superb vintage for Malcom Rees-Francis. The 2011 Pinot Noir was awarded Gold at the 2013 Decanter World Wine Awards (a rigorous competition involving no less than 14,362 wines) and this is on the back of being awarded Champion Open Red at the 2012 Air New Zealand Wine Awards.
Rockburn was established in the then little-known region of Central Otago in 1991.
In 2005, winemaker Malcolm Francis arrived from Felton Road where his skills immediately reaped the rewards when he won the Elite Gold Medal. The estate Pinot Noir is fast gaining a reputation as one of the finest produced in Central Otago.
The 2009 is a prolific award winner having scooped numerous gold medals and trophies including Gold at the NZ International Wine Show and the Blue-Gold Award at the Sydney International Wine Show.
