Agostino Pavia & Figli is a small family company in the heart of the Barbera d’Asti production area. On about 9 hectares of vineyards extending over gentle slopes around the farmhouse, all located in the area of Agliano Terme, the winery produces three Barbera d’Asti crus: Bricco Blina, Moliss and La Marescialla.

The story of the Pavia family, which has devoted its energies to wine-making for the last three generations, runs alongside that of the local development of wine production and the creation of the Barbera d’Asti DOC (DOCG from 2008 vintage), the most important, evident emblem of this area.

Yields are strictly controlled, firstly by means of the removal of double shoots after flowering, then with the “green harvest” at the beginning of August, when the bunches are thinned. The actual harvest is carried out exclusively by hand.

The wine-making process therefore starts out with this scrupulous attention to vineyard management, and continues with a rigorous selection and diversification of barrels (with the use of both barriques and tonneaux made of Allier and Fontainebleau oak, and 30-hectolitre barrels made of Austrian oak), with the precious help of oenologist Lorenzo Quinterno.

Ruby red in colour. The bouquet is full-scented, fruity with enticing notes of red small fruit. The palate is dry, with an excellent balance between acidity and taste. Its pleasant long aftertaste sensibly recalls its aroma.
