Pierre Dethune comes from a long line of wine growers –going back as far as 1610. Today they combine modern technology with years of know-how and an over-riding sense of the importance of the environment, working the vineyards on organic principles using sustainable viticulture methods. This house has a similar relationship with its customers to that of a single Domaine in Burgundy – which means that customers avoid paying the premium of a high profile house but have access to wines of outstanding quality. “Charming to the nose, this champagne will also charm you with its sparkling robe of ripe wheat hues. The palate is treated to the aromas of undergrowth, of warm brioche and a hint of spices”
What: Champagne Paul Dethune, Brut Grand Cru will be most appreciated at the “cocktail hour and enjoyed with Parmesan cheese pastry or crisp fois gras toasts” – or anything with a little bite!
Tech: This is a grower's champagne from the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay where the Dethune family own 7ha of vineyards (Ambonnay is one of only seventeen villages with this label of excellence). Disgorged June 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015."
70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay with 30-50% reserve wines makes this wonderfully balanced and rich champagne.
Taste: 89 Points, Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate):
"The NV Brut Grand Cru shows off the broad shoulders and expansive personality of Ambonnay in its rich, textured fruit. Ripe red berries, pears, hazelnuts and pastry are some of the nuances that are woven together in this attractive, totally delicious NV Champagne”.
This is really lovely champagne which will enhance any special occasion! Our advice is…find a reason to celebrate and enjoy!
